John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
This verse has been playing over and over in my head the last couple weeks, and it has been a great source of encouragement and strength to me. We have peace if we are a child of God. And not just any peace! We have the Lord's peace because we are His. John 4:7 says that it passes all understanding. It's not something we will ever truly understand until we get to Heaven, but we can have it now!
Are you having financial worries? The world cannot begin to give you the peace that God can give. Trust in Him, knowing that He has everything under control. Are there strains in your family or among your friends? Only the Lord can give you the peace that you need. Rest in Him, knowing that He is your Father and your Friend. Do you have health problems that have left you anxious and in despair? Go to the Lord; He has already given you His peace. He understands your needs.
Not only did He leave us peace--He left us His peace. "Let not your heart be troubled!" He is there, and will never leave you if you are His child. That alone should give us abundant peace today!
